They never once picked up the phone. I had to go down there this morning and thank fuck they had my dress. The woman there tried to convince me they'd sent a text 5 days ago. I told her the truth, neither she nor anybody else texted me all day that day. I told her nobody there ever answered the phone. She tried to convince me my phone was busted. I know perfectly well it isn't. She's either an idiot or a liar.

Nov. 8th, 2025 10:05 amgreghousesgfLooking forward to going over to L's house this afternoon to make them Chinese beef curry for their birthday. I have everything I need except a potato and I'm going to walk right past the grocery store on my way to the bus stop so I can just go in and pick up a potato. No, I don't know why Chinese beef curry would have potato in it but who am I to argue with Martin Yan? The only thing I'm doing differently from the recipe is leaving the sugar out of the sauce because L. is diabetic, which is why I'm making birthday curry and not birthday cake.

Nov. 7th, 2025 10:47 amgreghousesgfNothing happening since yesterday evening. Looking forward to going over to L.'s house tomorrow and another friend's birthday party next weekend. It also occurred to me that my friend who's having the birthday next weekend and his girlfriend, who I'm also friends with, said something about being interested in going to the Dickens Xmas fair with me and you have to buy those tickets online in advance so I should ask them when they want to do that.

Nov. 5th, 2025 10:47 amgreghousesgfHad a nice long phone conversation with L. Their birthday is day after tomorrow and I'm going over to their house Saturday to make them a Chinese beef curry. I also got invited over to another friend of mine's birthday party in less than two weeks. I haven't heard back yet from the dry cleaners, I was supposed to hear from them today and now that it's stopped raining I can go over there with a minimum amount of bullshit.

The idiot squad didn't have any paper in their office and after their bullshit pretending they didn't get my rent checks TWICE AFTER I confirmed with my bank that those checks cleared I insist on getting rent receipts every time now so I went to the copy place and made a copy of my rent check myself and had them stamp it and sign it. Went out and got groceries and my damn legs are killing me but I'm having a cup of Keemun tea and I'm gonna make shrimp Creole for dinner tonight.

Nov. 2nd, 2025 09:29 amgreghousesgfLast night turned into Bowie night here, I listened to Aladdin Sane which is one of his best albums I think and then watched Moonage Daydream. That's such a good movie! Anybody who's a David Bowie fan should see it.
Had some Yunan tea earlier this morning and I'm going to do laundry later, then late this afternoon I'm really looking forward to going out for drinks with some friends.

I saw tons of cool costumes and had yummy oysters and Mexican food and heard some great music, the only snag was walking several blocks to get to this one bar which turned out to be much too crowded so my legs are killing me. Worth it though.

Late afternoon/early evening I'm going to pub hop in Temescal (neighborhood near mine) to celebrate Halloween. There are a ton of cool bars and restaurants in that neighborhood and I bet at least some of them will have some sort of special. There is also some sort of kids party that the fools who run the apt bldg are doing with a bouncy house at one this afternoon so I figure I can probably get some free food out of it but I'm far more interested in the pub hop.
